The Sore Throat Study CONSENT TO CONTACT FORM |
Thank you for your interest in this study. We are investigating sore throats in healthy children aged between 3 and 14 years of age and how best to prevent them.
The Sore Throat Study is being carried out by the Australian Strep A Vaccine Initiative (ASAVI), an Australian-led global initiative with the goal of reducing the disease burden caused by Group A Streptococcus, also known as 'Strep' or 'Strep Throat' and other serious diseases like rheumatic heart disease through effective vaccination.
ASAVI is a collaboration between Perth's Telethon Kids Institute, Melbourne's Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) and Adelaide's Women's and Children's Health Network.
Please complete this short registration form.
We will contact you by telephone to give you more information about the Sore Throat Study, and invite you, your child and family to participate if your child is eligible.
In this study we will monitor your child's health for 12 months, ask you to complete some surveys about your child's health and wellbeing. We will also ask your child to provide body fluid samples, such as blood tests and swabs of your child's throat.
There are 3 study visits with your study team. If your child experiences any signs or symptoms of sore throat, we will also arrange additional appointments for each episode of sore throat if required. You are free to change your mind about participating at any time. Just let us know, and we'll make sure we record your wishes in our database so that you are not called again.
Thank you for considering taking part in this important study.
